Bank is a bustling junction with close ties to London's financial sector. It acts as the originating point for several streets, including Threadneedle, Cornhill, Lonbard Street, Walbrook, Mansion House Street, Poultry and Princes Street. Bank station is served by the Docklands Light Railway and the London Underground's Central, Northern, and Waterloo & City lines.

On the northeast corner of Bank junction is the Bank of England. The central bank has been based here since 1734. The area is also home to the Royal Exchange, which has sat between Threadneedle Street and Cornhill since its founding in 1565. Mansion House is situated on the south side and has served as the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London since 1752. The Worshipful Company of Grocers and the Worshipful Company of Mercers are also based close to Bank junction.
