West Yorkshire is home to a thriving and dynamic industry base that has demonstrated its ability to successfully weather economic recessions. Leeds is also known for having one of the largest concentrations of financial services firms. The sector's estimated worth is in the region of £13 billion, the second largest in the UK. This sector is supported by a superb range of financial technology and leading research firms with a high degree of specialisation in the application of digital technology to finance and banking. Some examples include the Consumer Data Research Centre at the University of Leeds, the Leeds Open Data Institute, and the soon-to-be-launched Fintech Accelerator.

Investment opportunities are plentiful in Bradford too, a city that has received more than £90 million in public and private sector investment over the past decade. Bradford City, Bradford Moor, Bowling, Wyke, Tong, and Barkerend enjoy Assisted Area status, which means that companies based in these areas benefit from access to grants, tax relief, and other attractive business incentives. Moreover, the regeneration scheme known as the Bradford Public Service Hub has been launched, and once complete, it will become a leading hub for public sector employment, providing jobs to more than 3,500 people.
