Local Area Info

The city of Cambridge is located in East Anglia and is the administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire and is also a university town. Cambridge and the surrounding area are known as Silicon Fen due to the many high tech companies and businesses that operate in the region. Some of the large companies which are based in Cambridge include CSR, Abcam, CamSemi and Acorn Computers. The university of Cambridge is partially responsible for the density of technology industries in the area because of the availability of skilled human resources and entrepreneurship that the university supplies.

Microsoft made the decision to locate its UK Microsoft Research offices to a technology park of the University of Cambridge. Other major headquarters include Tetra, Pye Telecommunications and Marshall Aerospace. The city is served by the Marshall Airport and there is an extensive road, rail and bus network. The availability of skilled human resources coupled with its thriving economy makes Cambridge an ideal site for office relocation.
