Local Area Info
Hinkley is the second largest town in Leicestershire. It is home to the stunning medieval church Stoke Golding and the site of the Battle of Bosworth. From the 17th century, Hinkley emerged as an important centre fort the textiles and the hosiery industry.
By the 19th century, the town produced much of Britain's hosiery. Although the industry has declined since the Second World War, textile firms remain a significant part of the economy. The town is also an important engineering centre, and is the home of Triumph Motorcycle and sports car manufacturer Utima Sports. Hammonds Furniture is also a significant employer and operates two factories in Hinkley.
Hinkley is conveniently located near the centre of the country, offering excellent connections to motorways that connect communities across Britain. The M69 motorway links the town with Coventry and Leicester, as well as the M1 and M6. As a result, distribution has become a growing segment of the economy. The community is also home to emerging creative and technology firms, including Moab Sauce and Erud IT.
