Melksham is a small market town (population 23,000) in Western Wiltshire on the banks of the Bristol Avon. Its position 10 miles south of junction 17 of the M4 on the A350 provides an excellent centre to explore nearby Lacock and Avebury and the attractive towns of Devizes, Bradford on Avon and the City of Bath. There are excellent recreational facilities within the town including a gym, swimming pool and sports centre. A large range of clubs and societies cater for most tastes and range from Line Dancing to the Historical Association and everything in between. There is a good pub atmosphere in the town with many offering live music and other events. The town still retains its old nucleus of houses grouped around the beautiful parish church just away from the busy shopping centre.
